nice to dream .. as long as we can keep her running and accessible to all the vulcan fans, teach our visitors a thing or too (or them teach us) and most of all put a smile of everyones face then that will do :D

Indeed, there is a picture of her in cammo entitled "Returning Home" in the Woodford security/reception office. The white paint and the reshaped fin were part of the 603 Club's attempt to return her to "as-built" condition.

Each will be covered in a tarpaulin and dragged to a remote part of the airfield to be chopped into large pieces before departing by road to be scrapped properly at a location in Gloucestershire.

Looks as if they're doing their best to make sure the process isn't recorded on camera ...

I wonder if BAe will use the opportunity to get rid of XM603 the same way. It will have to go eventually, and if the scrap contractors are on site........................ :(( :((

Wasn't there some talk about contaminated fuel on board they need to get rid of but it would be too expensive.. saying that it needs to be dealt with at some point if there is.

When we worked on it 15 months ago we were told there was no fuel on board. Several of the fuel tanks have had the bottom pump mounting panels cut out for inspection access. We did notice a little hydraulic fluid, but not much else.

Fingers crossed for that CC. Would be a crying shame otherwise.
