MUGS: couple of things to do is finalise the main picture and a couple of checks on badge usage (which i think i got covered) then i should be ready to get permission of the 655 board to go in to production.. we will keep the numbers make relatively low to keep them unique and collectable :D (we still have two other designs for sale :))

We could put some onboard 655 on her next outing and sell them with a certificate stating they have been fast taxied and get the crew to sign the paperwork. :D

=)) you'll need two good legs.....I don't know why Mark, I suppose it's because when ever DT's near her it's because he's getting ready to play with her & you know what he's like when he's focused!!!!!!

Progress Report

Postby Sooty655 » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:11 pm

Another good day today. Cleaning of the LP compressor is now pretty well complete, and we will hopefully be touching up the protective lacquer on the blades next week. The OEM, Indestructible Paint Ltd, have very kindly donated a kit of cold-cure lacquer for this work.

We also used our new pulling tool to extract the cracked zero stage stator blades and replace them with serviceable spares from the seized engine.

I will post pictures tomorrow, when I have enough connection speed.

Only a couple of photos for you this week, both by Charles Brimson, and a video taken by Roger Bowen.

This is one of the two cracked zero stage stator blades we removed from our No 4 engine.
Image

This is the tool we made to pull the blades along the dovetail groove in the casing.

And here is a short video of one of the blades being pulled out.

Next weekend, we plan to touch up the lacquer on the compressor blades, and close up the LP compressor casing. Then we will start work on the HP compressor inspection.

It certainly keeps us all out of mischief. :D

Nice pictures, thanks. Is that just general muck (black stuff) on the leading edge?

The crack is from the leading edge. The debris at the trailing edge is a bit of damage to the lacquer, with muck underneath.

I'm tempted to ask why you expect him to be able to tell, but perhaps I'd better not. :)) :))
