An F-35 pilot will have an unprecedented level of situational awareness about what's going on in the airspace around him or her, and also on the battlefield or ocean below. Not only that, but the F-35 will plug into coalition battlefield networks and be able to pass that picture on to all other players in the network.

A very modern way of describing war .... networks and players .... sounds like a big computer game :p

It's like the film 'Wargames' - "Shall we play chess or Global Thermo-Nuclear war" :ymblushing:

Why do tha American always have to give their toys to us for us to show them how to use them properly?

Lets just hope microsoft didn't write the software... aquiring target, target locked. updating windows please retart your computer :p

I'm sure that one has been flown over here! about half way through last year we saw 2 typhoons and two aircraft that i didn't recognise (but the tails were distinctivly like these) they were "playing" over the north sea near bridlington. and they were pulling some G's, it was like watching top gun from the ground :D

but i had no camera :( since that day i have a digital camera in the car at all times.

Is this not what our government should be doing when things go overbudget or take too long?

Chinook anyone?

$614M is a mighty lot of money though.

If they keep building aircraft that don't work as designed, they may have to start flying the Vulcan!
