VC10 Ground runs

Its a pain in the A***E but for high power ground runs this is where we have to put them..

i was trying to remember what they're called earlier - still can't - i keep wanting to say "defragmenters" but that's completely wrong - what the hell are they called????????????

is it just to divert the sound more than the thrust? i know Concorde used to have similar ground runs at LHR - still bloody noisy though!
