Calm down boys and girls, my last post was aimed at Panel 10, sorry for not making that clearer.

It's been said before, but WTF, I'll say it again:

The trust going tits up will not kill 558. If anything, it's the best thing that could happen for the aircraft. You never know, we might actually get someone who knows what they're doing to buy the business!!

Now wouldn't that be nice?

Gaz, what is the exact opposite of ROSE TINTED SPECTACLES?

Lets just say, the trust has had a go, had some success and ballsed up quite a bit. Time for someone else to have a go!

Is anyone familliar with how Barcelona and Real Madrid football clubs are owned (or the Green Bay Packers in Dan4th's case)?

This would be the perfect solution the the problems everyone is having with the Trust in my opinion.

That is an interesting option, although I feel we are unlikely to be blessed by 155000 members!

Highest bidder I suppose. If that means the Vulcan will still be flying, good! A flying Vulcan SOMEWHERE in the world is better than ANOTHER one in a museum

For what it is worth here's my full tenpenneth.

I was led to believe that the VTTST had, for the beginning of the 2009 display year, a new business plan to be implemented.

One can only surmise that up to yet that new plan has not been set in motion.
Why? Well you may ask.

It would appear that at the end of the 2009 season we had the same as the end of 2008.
(Which was only slightly different from 2007 as the lady was now flying).
2007 would seem to have been the same as 2006 as 2005 as 2004...

Each year an amount was stated as being needed to finish first the project.
Then the flight tests.
Then the first air-shows.
Then the first full year.
Now the new season (but to include pulled forward mods).

But each time the cost has risen from what was originally asked for and what was eventually required.

Now it may seem silly, but surely one can based on previous figures, actually work out what funds are need to keep her in the air for the next 3 years, (using current inflation figures).

The costs for anti-dets are known, season servicings are known, the manpower costs are known, the office costs are known.
Do I need to continue?

The only real unknown is the actual amount she can generate in real terms.
But surely using figures from the 2009 season and then reducing that to 2/3rds actual will give an approximate figure.

This would then allow fund raisers to know the actual target they will be aiming for, should they raise more than the target, that money could be invested to make more to reduce the amount needed in the further coming years.

Only a thought, a stupid one I know, but hey...

No OK I'll go and start looking again for the corner in the round room.

Straight jacket please man in white coat.

This would work very well IMHO.

Personally I've got to the point where I want something to happen....... one way or the other.
If it goes belly up which looks highly likely then there needs to be a consortium of some sort to keep it all together before some numpty breaks the project into so many pieces (trying to recover some money) that any hope of further fight is lost forever.

Don't forget that 558 is a 2 legger at the moment and to my knowledge Kearsleys have not been authorised to strip the removed leg and use it a pattern for manufacturing the seals etc needed to overhaul the leg which they hold 'in stock'.

558 has 2 options......... leave Lyneham under her own steam or leave in a series of skips...........

The next few days will determine which it is going to be.

I pray it will be the former.
