That's exactly how I read it initially, but having thought about it I could see how DB translated it too.

Lincoln Market was buzzing today from my perspective, it was great to see Aggie, Bubbles (Greg), Mr Tim, Jacqi, Ian and the stalwarts of the team in the photos. Additionally Martin W and his lovely wife came along, what a star she is and it was a pleasure to talk to her. I managed to drive only one to person to drink post being bored to death by my 'Vulcan Passion' :p , and managed to sell a few items :), I will leave it up to the others in the know to provide figures and whether it was worth it from the clubs perspective, I think it was as the message is getting out to the wider public.

It is funny what some people come out with, one asked me if we had heard about the people who were trying to get a Vulcan flying and did I know how they are getting on. I have personally had to explain to about 8/10 people about Waddington and thankfully none were abusive/angry and only two said they still would not help, so from my perspective this was a positive result.

Decided to cheat and write this in word and then post in Iconic and VTSC.

That should be 88k, not 33k as he said he needs cash, not pledges.

But of course the rules will change (again) to suit the amount actually found.

Actually it IS 33k, not 88. Pledges count too (see various other threads here and there).

I think that in the absence of the cash suddenly materialising from somewhere they have no other choice. They'll have to look at what they have and see if they can muddle through with it. You'd do the same in any similar position. Let's face it, the £400K was just a nice round half of the total, and £200K is just a nice round half of that, which also more closely represents the cash they need in the short term. But it's not the exact figure they need, so maybe they'll try and make do.

The real difficulty will be trying to assess whether the rest of it is feasable or not. That rather depends on what they've got up their sleeves.

Being realistic, 33k is a big old sum and if this is the current trend of fundraising stands, then the Trust should admit defeat and file for administration.

Sam, we all want it to work, but many of us can't currently see how this can happen! :-o

We all want 558 to fly again, but can she continue to stumble between repeated annual funding troubles? ~x(

We all have the utmost admiration for those that either actually work upon the airframe or fly her. :ymapplause:

BUT as has been repeatedly mentioned, many factors need to change and some of those require some to step down and to stop strangling the project! :ymapplause:

Another point to consider, just because we look at things differently from others and voice those opinions does not mean we have given up on 558 or the groundcrew/aircrew, neither do we intend to.

Most of us just look at the practicalities and hurdles and voice them with contsructive critiscism or offers of help and advice, is it our faults that most times this help has been ignored, is it our faults that despite saying there are better ways off doing things to stop this annual debacle, with last minute emotional blackmail attempts on those very people who are being accused of 'giving up'.

Don't forget there are people within the club that have business acumen, can think outside the box and can make things happen, if they are ever given the chance, but it was said at the beginning of the year, if these last ditch panic attempts to get money carry on they will lose credibility and the funding they crave, et voila it may come to pass that the harm has been done.

Finally just so the message gets through again:

WE APPRECIATE AND APPLAUD ALL THE GROUND CREW/AIRCREW AND CLUB COMMITEE MEMBERS WHO WORK DAMM HARD TO GIVE US, i.e. THAT GIVE OUR MONEY AND TIME AS VOLUNTEERS, A WONDROUS FLYING ICON AND LONG MAY WE BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THAT :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

I'm so glad you're not at the helm. You'd have given up months ago. We didn't get where we are today by just giving up. Last year we did 33k in a matter of hours on those final days in March...
