Static Plastic/Resin

Postby Cluny » Mon Dec 07, 2009 11:10 pm

Well as most of the threads in this section cater for r/c models [nothing wrong with that , im an r/c flyer too] i think its time for a dedicated thread for those who like the smell of polly cement , CA and thinners :)
Just finished [well as finished as it will ever get] my Airfix 1/48th scale Tsr2 at last B-)
Image

Image
It will never win any awards at a show but it'll do for me ;)
Just tried my hand at weathering [using ProModeller Dark Dirt weathing wash , my local shop has just started stocking it] for the first time on an old 1/48th Spitfire XIVe [i think it was the Acadamy kit but im not sure as its years old] thats seen better days .
No weathering wash .
Image

With wash .
Image

Comparison shot .
Image
I dont think it came out to bad , could be better but also could be worse .

My current project , the Revell 1/72nd Tempest V .
Image
I hate painting D-Day stripes by hand ~x(
Its not a bad kit just a bit old fashioned [big chunky sprues and not alot of detail] but at £4 you cant complain ;)

Currently awaiting my attention is the Airfix 1/72nd Halifax [which Helen got me for my bday in April , i did start it honest] and Canberra PR9 which i wont get my mits on till christmas .
So what have you got ? :)

I've got lots but at the moment they all reside in the loft awaiting some spare time!

I still havn't finished my C-47 ~x(
Keep looking at it and thinking I really should finish that =))

Image

And my Lanc needs serious attention as when clearing it away to "decorate" the living room, mum was a little rough with it and the tail wheel has brocken and I can't find it :((
And I dropped my AC-47 and the prop has snapped and so has the UC :(( :(( .

Image

I think I'm just going to give up after I sort that lot out, I'm just not very good at it :(

My tiny little collection consists of

"Spooky" AC-47 gunship
ZA947 C-47
Green D-day striped C-47
PA474
P7350 Spitfir
Hurricane that I never finished
Polish Spitfire
Gnat (yellow jacks)
I think thats all lol :D

When mum says I can have my display case back (it currently has the stuff for the decorating on it) I'll take some better pics as the ones I have are rubbish.

:: I started a Tornado ages ago that I seem to have forgotten about =))

I have a lot of models in the queue waiting to be made, the current list is as follows....

4x 1/48 scale Airfix TSR2
Tamiya 1/48 scale Lancaster B MKI/III
Hasegawa 1/48 scale Phantom FG MKI Ark Royal
Eduard 1/48 scale F6F3 Hellcat
ERTL 1/48 scale Airwolf
Revell 1/72 scale Lightning F6
Revell 1/72 scale Eurofighter Typhoon
Airfix 00 Gauge Prairie Tank
2x Airfix 00 Gauge 9F Evening Star

And finally my lastest purchase of a Tamiya 1/24 scale Nissan Skyline R34 GTR (NISMO Z-TUNE)

I started work on a 1/48 scale Bearcat and that is nearly finished now. I just need to put on the decals and a couple of other finishing touches....

I really like the Bearcat -- a very muscular
aircraft and hard to shoot down, I understand.....
YouTube has a few really good clips of it.

For the wear-and-tear, I'm sure XP
would be happy to send you some
bullet holes! He's got a whole drawer
full of them!

NO Tempest should suffer from bullet holes, especially Pierre Clostermans!

Errr you can add yet another 1/48 TSR2 to my 'to do' list =))

Someone was silly enough to be selling one with a pair of Pavla resin seats for £18 on Ebay.... Thought it would have been rude not to give it a good home!!

Usually accepted as nine I believe, might have to include those in my loft just to help out!

Well, 3 aircraft seem to be making up the Sentinel Sqn, so you seem to nearly there.

It appears three are only needed now.... :)) Santa brought me another 1/48 TSR2 so that makes six.... My plans for world domination are a step closer!!

Oh and I also obtained one of the original 1/72 Airfix TSR2's last week from the Bay. One of the specials put on there to help raise funds for the Lightning QRA shed. This is one model that wont be built though as its been signed by one J Dell :D

Tony

You surely won't complete them all in there white scheme, a little imagination regarding their colours if they had entered service would be most interesting!

As and when building commences lets just say the Desert Storm Camo scheme has caught my eye....

Mind you actual space to display them is going to be an issue, so I wont be building too many just yet. XR222 is probably favourite to put in the first appearance :D

Looking forward to the pics Tony :)

Ive been busy today [not alot on TV worth watching beyond W&G at lunchtime] so made a start on the Canberra ;)
Anyone comtemplating this model , dont bother with the Navigators cockpit .
A : You cant see it when the Fuselage halfs are joined .
B: Its wrong anyway , the Navigator on a PR9 sits in the very front of the nose not behind and underneath the Pilot .
Anyway , its a nice model thats going together well for a change ;)
