A/C to fly in

Postby Mayfly » Mon Oct 13, 2008 5:20 pm

What would be your choice & why? civilain or military......

I have been luckly enough to achieve my dream flight so if you could fly in any aircraft throughout the ages what would it be?

Mine was the Lancaster - I always want to lay the nose & watch the runway getting closer as we came into land, plus I tried to imagine what it would have been like to fly in WWII on a mission knowing you may not come back, this is also the a/c that made me ill for 4 days :ymsick: ...............

you lucky thing! :p

i was a hairsbreadth from getting a flight on on of Canopus' last working sorties before she retired to Brunty - sadly there were just far too many in the queue before me :(

missed flying on Concorde completely :((

still hoping for a VC10 flight at some point :D

a Spitfire would be something rather special i think B-)

like RLN - Lightning/Bucc of course :D

other than that, my most memorable flight was back in the late 1990s with a friend with a PPL - took my motorbike to Cambridge - jumped in his Cessna and zoomed upto Brunty (to see 558 from above - she was in the hangar! :( ) - LOW Brunty flyby - landed at Duxford. John flew back to Cambridge while i went around the museum and waited for him to fly back to Cambridge and get his car.

i can't think that there are THAT many people who've landed at Duxford - a brilliant day B-)

SM ........ZIP IT before you say anything ok ^#(^

I would REALLY love to fly in a Chinook. I know they're noisy inside, everyone who's been inside one tells me. But they're just so dreamy TO ME.

That's top of my list, but since seeing the Tiffie in action, I wouldn't mind being in one of those when it's being flown.......... Amazing!

Well I still havn't lost hope that i'll get to fly in a Dakota, my dream it to fly in an authentic C-47 with benches and maybe even a static line :) but hopefully I won't be jumping out of it :))
I'd love to have a go at flying a chipmunk, lovely little things I have a softspot for them :)
And I'd quite like to go for a ride with any display team, reds, blue angels anything like that not bothered which lol Just someone with a fast jet, that would be hilarious =)) see how many times I can be sick lol =))

Glad to see it's as easy to derail a topic on here as the last place.......
Iv'e been on board the Lanc at Hendon.
Arranged a visit with late father. (he was based at Bracebridge Heath during the last war, certified Lancs fit for flight so was a frequent visitor to Waddo.
I'd be happy to get a ride in a JP, never mind a Tonka or 558 or a Lanc.

Having been in a few Puma's and a Wessex in NI .... I agree that choppers are NOT the quietest of flying machines nor boast the 'most comfortable ride' factor.

I would have loved a go in a F14 Tomcat many years ago. A trip in a Tiffie must be awesome - but somehow I think my stomach may disagree :)

I guess you have all seen Clarkson in an F15E - and Captain slow in the Tiffie. :D
