Some more progress made today. Ian made a start on the left wing...




And whilst I was up there I did some corrosion spotting. It's not as bad up there as it is on t'other side.

I also started sanding the orange bits on the propellors, ready for painting.

Gregg did a cracking job on the locks too, all secure now!

I've also solved a mystery. There is a large wooden crate in the cockpit that was padlocked. Well, curiousity got the better of me and I took a hacksaw to the lock today. There was some general upkeepy type stuff in there, lightbulbs, bin liners, a brush and also some blank cargo manifests and blank service sheets.

NASA that runs their flying Guppy? You have
other fish to fry at the moment, but it
wouldn't hurt for you to have a contact with
those people -- I'm Certain they would be
interested to hear about your project!

Shouldn't be too difficult.....

Just do a little digging until I find the
right E-mail and make contact. NASA
is very PR oriented, and the story of
the Bruntingthorpe Guppy might even
make its way into some of their internal
and external publications....not to mention
contacts with the people who fly and maintain
NASA's airworthy one....

I've sent an e-mail to the public relations dept. at NASA but have not had a reply, as yet. I asked if they could put me in touch with an engineer as well. So we'll see what happens.

US, and this one happens to be about a mile from
me at the airport. I've met the young lady who runs
the place, and I will give her a Phone Call (remember
the Telephone??? to see if she has a good
contact E-mail for the people at NASA who operate

They have passed my details on to the parts department and given me a contact name and address. Apparently, they have a department that deals with museums and charities.

A step in the right direction, me thinks!
