What a brill day the displays were awsome & topped off with 4 passes by 558 including a couple of climbs & howls

588 but she wasn't the star of the show because they all were

then I was really lucky because DT went behind the barriers to talk to the ground crew & I followed him & got some shots of the BBMF a/c outside with no barriers or people in the way :D

It's really nice to see the Phantom :ymapplause:

Yep I think this is one event where she take an equal place, how did her appearance go down?
We watched from the other side of the Witham, I saw her coming a mile off :)) she's not exactly subtle, but we were a little too far out to get any decent pics, altough I do have a few ver far away ones lol

Really lovely pics Pam, especially the one of all of them :)

Is P7350 back yet?
She had some air tests last week.

The Lightning is XS897, it's a F6 being made up to look like an F3, I asked about it too :D

Not many realised 558 was appearing - she had been crossed off the flying list initially - it was only announced she would be there 10 minutes before she was due

I too spotted her miles out infact I was the first to see her - it was quite nice to shout VULCAN INBOUND =))

Great pics Pam, I bet there are still a few people living in the area who can remember the sound of LOTS of merlins overhead; something we who can omly wonder at have got to preserve for as long as we possibly can......

yeah Igz my mum often relates the time when the skies over Lincolnshire were black with Lancasters, must have been an awsome sound & sight. She says she used to listen to them leaving when she was in bed at night as a teenager & they would wake her in the morning on their return.

I'm just reading (again...) 'Luck and a Lancaster' by Harry Yeates DFC, his descriptions of the massed streams rising above Lincolnshire are the best I've found, he puts you right there amongst the noise and the sights so well. It's just a shame (And thats a wholly inadequate word to use....) that he ever had to experience it in the first place.....

Great photos - thanks for sharing those MF! :ymapplause:

Love the paint scheme for MK356 this year - seen it 2 or 3 times against a blue sky & fluffy white clouds: looks stunning :D

MK356 is my favorite Spitfire, but she will always be known to me as the clipped winged one I'm afraid :D

She's in 601 (County of London) Squadron colours :)
All 3 guides I've had on the tour have all been puzzled why the original spit (flown by Desmond Ibbotson) was silver, noone seems sure why, but she does look good in it :D

MF I have it on good authority that your mystery lightning is XS897 owned by Neil and Heather of Lake Lightnings and is on loan to 29 Sqn. It used to be at AeroVenture, Doncaster. I am sure Andy will correct me if I'm wrong.
