Postby Mackrick » Sun Sep 27, 2009 8:34 pm

First before the photos I have a few words to say .....

Many thanks to the following unsung heros the Ground Crew who have made me welcome throughout the display season. I have learnt a great deal about 558 and it is something that I feel honoured to be involved with.

Taff, John, Mouse, Ray, Sam, Brownie, Pat, Del and JJ thanks guys and not forgetting Toni :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Looks like someone has knicked Taff's wheels from his chair!

The bags contain silica gel which absorbs any moisture.... once the intake blanks are fitted it helps to remove any moisture in the intake to try and help protect the engine blades between flights.

Thanks Rick and everyone else at Lyneham for making me so welcome.

There are a couple of extra people that need to be added to your list of unsung heroes. They a Mackrick and Mackrick jnr.

Excellent pictures Rick. You even managed to get my best side in one of them.

Here are a few of my snaps from today (loads of video to follow).

Managed to find this guy doing some work.

I didn't want to be a jinx by saying anything before the final display was over and done, but the engineers have done an outstanding job this season keeping 558 airborne, allowing her to be seen by many millions of people. Only 3 displays out of a list longer than I care to count were cancelled due to technical issues. A remarkable achievement :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

PS - long list here: http://www.yourvulcanneedsyou.co.uk/flightinfo.shtml- and I've got a couple more to add now I believe ;)

I'd just like to add my thanks to the ground crew for their great work and to the aircrew for their displays. You've all put in a lot of hours, and it's been appreciated by maybe millions of people who saw her this year. :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

Astounding year for 558.. probably seen by a few million people this year. All down to the efforts of the Engineering crew et Co.

This years reliability factor has gained the project some great reviews in the press and on TV.. and been a slap in the gob to those many doubters on other fora =)) :)

WELL DONE TO ALL for a great year !!!!

Here's to a successful 2010 season..... Thanks guys !!!
