I personaly hate seeing once proud airframes reduced to ending life on a Fire Dump. (I know it is for the benefit so that others can learn thier trade,, but it is still very sad to see. IMO)
Have just quickly gone through the 'final demise' list in Tim Lamings' book - it seems that some 12 Vulcan airframes ended up on Fire Dumps in UK (and 1 at Akrotiri). Various others were used for Crash Rescue Training.

Sadly witnessed them being hacked to death at the time.. was really hard to believe they were actually at the end of thier useful life![]()

I still have those memories ingrained. Not a sight I enjoyed at the time.

If they ALL survived 558 wouldn't be so special!
