Hi everyone

I wondered if there was anyone going to Airbourne in August at Eastbourne this year. Should be better than last year esp now the organisers are not charging for the public to watch from the seafront. The red arrows are appearing over the four days as well as Typhoon etc.

So why aren't you going, it's even in your county?

Airbourne 2009

Postby Maveric » Thu Aug 13, 2009 8:44 pm

Topic Meged by MF

Hi Everyone

Well its got underway today Airbourne 2009, a do or die for Eastbourne this year and i must say that the turn out even for the first day appeared really busy. However what bout the displays then. Well a mixed bag to be honest. The flying started at 2pm!!!!! Really late for this event. And the first item didnt turn up until over an hour later!!!! The KC135 tanker came in one pass with drone down then a return flypast and off it went, really disappointed with that.
Highlight as got to be the Royal Netherlands Air Force F16 doing a flypast with the RNAF Spitfire, the poor old spit was thrashing it and the F 16 was nearly falling out of the sky, thank god for Fly By Wire Tech.
The other participants were the Girl on a Wing duo, BBMF, Tutor, The Tigers paras, The Blades ( who i thought were really good ), and of course The Red Arrows who i thought displayed brilliantly compared to previous displays i have seen them this year, ( Biggin Hill they made a mistake ) and Southend (bit scratchy ).
Roll on friday when hopefully a few more aircraft will be there.
Eurofighter coming both days at the weekend, cant wait.

:)

pleased you enjoyed it - a few have said The Reds haven't been up to their usual standard the last few outings.

I saw them a Waddington on the practise Thursday & they were really good. All their displays are videoed & they sit and analise them after each performance - and as one who has sat in on their debrief believe you me they are very critical of themselves...
