Havent even read 5% of the thread in question yet, but for what purpose was it closed other than the above? From what I've read so far, nothing has been censored/deleted.

Nothing technical would require the forum to be closed either (e.g. flood control), so for now ....I will go with Prom's theory :(

Im not aware of the full facts but I have a feeling it may have been something to do with a post that XM made in response to Zero Ones post.

Prob because they can as moderator. Not saying it was the right thing to do, however, it is their perogative. In the end, if they choose to close it, or let it run, they have to answer for both action and inaction.

I decided to not really get involved in that thread - end of the day it will achieve nothing productive. As for being rude to Denis. I think they would say the same to his face when they meet him - in a constructive way as that is the aim of the responses I feel.

Anyway, could rant about the vulcan project all day but I am at the cannot be a*sed stage. Will support it when I can, but to me at the moment and for the forseable future there are more important things to spend my time, money and patience on. :(

See some of you on Saturday at the Lightning do. Well worth the trip I feel.

I personally am greatly concerned that Denis is a moderator.
I can see many 'outages' and eventually the plug being pulled.
As he has now publicly stated and privately to me several months ago the forum is a pain and he wishes he'd never suggested a guest book (which is where it all started from).
In true ex BT engineer style 'If it ain't in me contract I won't do it' true colours are emerging...............

Sorry but in my take on this project, sod the contract, if it's morally ok and Legal to do it, GET ON WITH IT.

Have just read the thread in question and to say the least, I am disappointed. There will be no 558 forum soon, as every time I look in every thread seems to be degenerating into a slagging match. Denis didn't want to carry on with it and the easy option for management is to close it. Save them some grief and money.
All they have to do is drip feed the forum with info. Nothing big, confidential or sensitive, just steady figures and "what we are going to do next" type of thing. You can see the difference when Eddie posts some info. It would be so easy for them to do, and not take up a vast amount of time.
After the last display of petulance from TVOC and the blinkered attitude of some forumeers, I will be seriously considering not renewing my membership. :(

Oh yay, another VTST bashing thread!

I'm getting quite fed up with all these now. Yes we know there are problems, yes things can be done a hell of a lot better but we've been saying this for months now and as many threads are started on the subject, it has not made one bit of difference and to see the same subject come up again and again is frankly tiresome.

As for locking a thread, that's the moderators job. There is no point on any forum on any subject going round and round in a "This is my point of view" "but I disagree" "but I disagree with you" "I don't see why you should disagree with me" "well I think I should because..." "well I don't care what you think because..." kind of way. It doesn't accomplish anything and just gets people more and more wound up with things which we all got wound up about last month.

While I agree, its also got to be remembered that, while the problems still exist - its only human nature to keep these threads appearing.

I don't know if you mean this one or the one on VTST. Yes the one on VTST is another bashing thread, but as Wedgy says it is human nature for this to happen when things stop happening to 558. People will make their own mischief, but it is only because people are passionate about her, and are fearful that she may be grounded after all the previous effort and heartache. I am not defending it but I can understand it. It's such a shame as it could all be avoided, even though you will not please all of the people all of the time.
If you mean this thread, I don't think it is bashing at all. It's more like rubbernecking at a motorway accident. I think we learnt our lesson on this forum, as you say, last month. It's very sad that the VTST forum is devouring itself.

I guess we are talking of my thread here.. 'Finances .. Leading Question'

Main reason for my thread was to get an honest answer from 'thems in the know'... and hit them full on for some kind of honest reply. Folks on the Forum are pretty tired of last minute pleas for funding.

By doing what I did.. we had some varied responses. Denis was all for deleting it within a few posts, we got feedback from those that also require financial info. Am I not alone in seeking the truth about the one thing we all cherish and fight for ?

Eddie has stepped foward to state that the club is in a better shape. Albeit... but a statement from Dr P would have been better placed.

JMO

And NO... this is NOT a contiunation of that thread. It's done and over with.

whilst it did become a little ugly, i think that it was a worthwhile thread ultimately.

it's unfortunate that we still didn't get a definitive answer to the funding issue, Eddief did suggest that things are just about OK until the end of the year, but as to what monies remain, and what is required - well, as ever, that's anyone's guess.

it also provided Denis with the opportunity to state exactly what he thinks of the forum and its members. I've seen several emails and messages from him and others at Brunty for some months now, wherein his (and others') views were made abundantly clear.

I'm certain that no-one would've believed me had i said anything, as it would seem ridiculous that he could have such contempt for the very souls who saved his bacon earlier in the year. sadly though, he has voiced his opinions himself for all to see.

it wouldn't be so bad if it was just him that harboured those interesting views. personally, i think that the TVOC forum will be gone within a month.

that of course will be TVOC's 'final solution' to excise the cancer that is the forum, and with 558 locked in a box for the foreseeable future, that can only help in raising support and funding; what a masterstroke that will be ;)

the term "biting the hand that feeds" springs to mind ~x(
