No BBMF Today

Postby Mayfly » Sun May 03, 2009 12:12 pm

bit late out of the blocks on this one, but the cross winds are out of limits today so no BBMF appearing at East of England showground evidently - just incase anyone was waiting especially for them to show. :(

It's only going to be a load of OLD TRUCKERS that have missed out! :p

they have always flown over there to celebrate the Berlin airlift - am I right in thinking its 60 years this year?

Think it started in '48 and finished in '49, so not sure if the 60th anniversary was celebrated last year or this.

the dates of the Berlin Air-lift are apparently 24th June 1948 – 11th May

so in fact, it ended 60 years ago TODAY! :ymapplause:

an incredible achievement it was too B-)

I'm sorry to say that the Lanc didn't make it to Berlin coz of the cross winds - that also means the crew wasn't able to pick the lanc up, so she looks like she won't be home before the weekend.... :(
