Buccaneer XN974 - Elvington Arrival

Postby Gully » Wed Apr 08, 2009 12:31 pm

Jangor posted this over on the Vulcan forum and I thought it deserved an airing here. Always think footage of final flights is sad... :( At least 974 got a final thrash!

XX895 is the Scampton Bucc i believe? if so they have stated not so long ago that she wont fly untill there is work for her and she will not be displaying at any airshows. :(

no, the only Bucc with any chance of flying is XX885 - ex-Lossie. rescued and shipped by HHA - Hawker Hunter Aviation, now at their place at Scampton

last i heard (from Mackrick i think) was that there's an issue with her bang seats which is what the PtoF hold up is - i think they are EAGER to get her into the air again!

Thats the one i meant, a chap on another forum had an email from them recently saying that she is for contract use and wont fly untill there is work and wont display either,i believe the seat issue has been sorted but dont quote me on that. :)

the problam with the seats was a lack of rocket packs for them, this was solved in 2007 and the Bucc is on a back burner till they have work for her so we still gonna be waiting a while then. :(

i wonder what 'contract' they have in mind for XX885 then? i always thought that she was merely an aircraft for display

fingers x'd that they fly her soon though! :p

I think in the meantime all we can hope for is a fast taxi at Brunty from one of the Buccs there. Believe Andy listed them as participating on Cold War Jets day this year. :D
