Funny isn't it - the Canadian Lanc has been over here for a week but didn't make BBC Breakfast TV despite it being on the local news almost every night up here until it goes into Biggin albeit on the weather section.

Made me smile.

All publicity is good but listening to the news item anyone would think Biggin had arranged it!

Glad it's not just me my dear.
I am also astonished, annoyed but not surprised that there has been NOTHING (that I have seen) on Sky News. I have looked at the UK section of their news and the same doom, gloom and some week old stories on there but not a thing about this incredible visit by Vera and the excitement that surrounds it.

Must be in a MMM [Moaning Minnie Mood] this morning but I also couldn't believe that despite 90% of the flying and almost 100% of the displaying that the 2 are downing, is down south [yes I realise that that's where the airshows are] there are some complaining that they won't get to see them on the ground!.

True what they say about not pleasing everyone.

Yep it's annoyingly quiet from the "Media". But, There may be a film/documentary covering this
aviation landmark...... ;)

I understand the Canadians have a film crew with them documenting their side of things.

There's a short film on Facebook taken from the rear turret of the BBMF lanc with Vera tucked in behind.

Looks like todays flights are cancelled with the except of a possible sortie to Sywell. When I posted last night they flew by the house I didn't realise they weren't expected back.

Apparently they believe if they had stayed at Biggin they would be have been stuck.

Not quite on subject but hope you'll forgive...

Did anybody watch BBC Breakfast TV this morning?

I saw a snippet at about 8.30am from the Lancaster "Just Jane" where the journalist was saying - "Come back to us in about 20 minutes and we should have all 4 engines running".

The article was something to do with a relaxation or change to the CAA rules concerning old preserved aircraft. However I only had half an ear switched on so may have missed the gist of what was being said. The programme is NOT available on iplayer so I can't go back this evening and take another look.

Does anybody know what it was about?

CAA are looking at new rules re charging for passenger flights to help relieve the costs of operating restored aircraft.

Yes I watched it and it was about promotong the idea that - with the advent of the 2 Lancasters flying at the moment - Just Jane may yet be allowed to fly .. when they came back to the reporter the crew started all 4 engines and they taxied her for the benefit of the TV crew ..

Nice little section of the programme and anything that promotes Just Jane and historic aircraft is to be applauded. :ymapplause:

Local intel says there was a 6 mile tailback - they are apparently opening an extra carpark next to the WAVE and Barn Farm is opening £10 per head but YOU will NOT see the parked a/c.

CWH facebook page:
During a local flight from Durham Tees Valley Airport this morning, our Lancaster performed a precautionary engine shutdown . The aircraft landed safely without incident. It is now hangared and is undergoing maintenance. Regrettably we will not attend our weekend events and will advise on others.

#BomberTour14 Canadian Lanc update:
"After careful assessment + with consideration to safety +time, we've decided to replace our #4 engine..."

Work will begin in the morning with a view to keeping their 3 Lancs commitment on Tues.

Edit: Quote from Andrew Panton.

Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre update on 2nd September 2014-
"After assessing the situation, and with consideration to safety and time constraints due to their many commitments during the tour, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum have decided to proceed with replacing the #4 engine on Vera. Work will begin in the morning at Durham Tees Valley Airport. Their intention is to meet their obligations for the event with the 3 Lancasters at East Kirkby on Tuesday. The Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre has offered CWH a zero timed engine from their stores and manpower from their engineering team. The Lincs Aviation Heritage Centre are progressing with preparations for the events as normal with every expectation that the 3 Lancaster event will go ahead."
