Visit to the Michael Beetham Conservation Centre

A few pics from the VTTSC visit to the Conservation Centre today at Cosford.

Unfortunately only part of the Hawker Kestrel was in the centre although this will be on display in the Research and Development hanger shortly.




The Museums completely original FW190 has been finally returned to Cosford after spending many years hanging from the celling at the IWM London.The finishing touches were being applied to her before going back on display in the Warplanes Hanger next week!















The Warplanes hanger was actually closed as it had been hired out for a Glen Miller night. Which meant there was a unique opportunity to photograph a few airframes outside although they had covers on them.

Hi Dan

Good point about the Me410 very advanced machine the guns on this were remotely controlled. Something we then tested on a Lancaster in 1945 at Cosford!

Great pictures Lee ! Thanks for organising the visit, one of the best afternoons in recent months, even if the traffic getting there was diabolical ! Have to say, I was shocked by how little of the Hampden there was to go on, but what a fantastic place, everywhere you looked there was something of interest. For me though, the highlight was the "private tour" of the Dornier. Awesome, astonishing, what a tribute to the museum to see it there.... And with the man in charge to explain the problems and what they plan to do. Brilliant. Thanks, Lee !
