Mach Loop Wales What a Visit! (Pic Heavy)

Postby Leebee0 » Fri Aug 09, 2013 2:00 am

Hi all

So I took my second visit to Mid Wales and Cad West today. It is pot luck I suppose what you see but I am so glad I went today.

What started out as a fairly quite day had a nice end to it for my mate and I and everyone else up there today.

It was my second visit but my first at using my Canon 600D so I apologise for some of the shots but it was my first try. Let me know what you think

Ok a few general shots you don't normally see.

Cad West is located off the A470 at Cross Foxes and along the A487 about 3 miles. Then on the right is a large car park shown below

Then the real treat two Typhoons out of Warton. These did two passes around the Loop the first I missed but I was not going to miss them a second time. Good job i had the camera this time as they performed two of the closest passes seen in a long time. Check out these

First up is Typhoon ZK092 Warton this aircraft only had its first flight on 26-07-2013 and is going to the Saudi Arabia Airforce!

Thanks for looking!

Lee.

Some nice shots Lee. What lens did you use and did you take any video?

Hi all

Thanks for your kind comments to be honest I am still buzzing from yesterday it was amazing :)

Anyway Ian to answer your questions :-

I used two different lens on that trip. The body is a Canon 600D and I had used just the standard Canon EFS 18-55mm lens. To get those last Typhoon shots I used a Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 55-250mm Lens. So nothing to spectacular but i have to admit i love the Camera.

Which leads me to your next question. As most know I normally video everything but since I had my stills DSLR that has taken over. I did still however have my video cam with me but elected to go with stills. My friend though did have his cam and did catch that last Typhoon passes on film but he is not a cameraman and found videoing fast moving jets really hard even if they were right in front of us.

I will have a look at the footage which is about 40sec long and see if I can sort it and get it up on youtube as soon as I have done that I will post it here.

Cheers

Lee.
