Sea Vixen Return to Flight

According to their FB page, today could be the day!

After a couple of recent abortive attempts (one down to the pilot being stuck in traffic!), today should hopefully see Hurn's Sea Vixen back in the skies following completion of the repair work work necessary after last year's taxiing accident.

Fingers crossed - at least they've got the weather for it! Think it will need to happen today if they stand a hope of being at Yeovilton...

Took off at 13:55 landed at 14:26.

Sea Vixen got it's PtoF at lunch time today now there is a big debate as to whether the pilot can his DA in time for Yeovilton, they seem to have forgotten DT got his within 2 hrs when 558 got her PtoF so it's not impossible. Still it will depend on the availability of a Display Authoriser.

Would it not be possible to do a couple of fly-bys at the very least ,if not a full display ?

Hello Everyone ! I hope all are well?

I Thought this would be a good thread to start my return seeing as it was distracting me from doing anything productive with my day today.........

I'm not sure if anyone knows what's going on yet, but they did take off an hour or so later after the first flight and went straight to Yeovilton. It would be good to know if that was just another test flight, or if it was for the Display Authority?

Sadly no pics from today as I went to the airport hoping to catch a glimpse at 12:30, but they delayed take-off for another hour (no 2hr lunch breaks allowed). When she did finally take-off, amazingly she flew straight at my place of work, but annoyingly I was with customers, who were clearly put-off by the noise, not impressed, un-like me almost jumping around like a kid in a sweet shop (not much happens around these parts )

I did find that unusual, especially as they didn't post it to their Twitter/Facebook feed until she'd been airborne for about 10mins. I also completely missed it due to the fact I was in a meeting with my MD at the time, and I don't think he'd appreciate me bring my scanner in with me???!

Went to Yeovilton for a practice display, not authorisation yet though...

And I missed it too... must have been way too busy 'learning'

According to their FB page, first display is Saturday. Presumably Yeovilton, so they must be confident on the DA front, which is great news.

Would that be as a result of CAA concerns and someone going in?

Last thing I would want to do is speculate but I have [unofficially] read they found debris in the gear box. Now whether that would cause a suspension or not I don't know. To the best of my knowledge 558s PtoF wasn't suspended when they found debris in No 2 engine but that of course be because they had a spare and simply changed it.
