Random EE Lightning question...

Postby 350wedge » Wed Jun 26, 2013 1:11 pm

Having a bit of a discussion about noise levels and was wondering if anyone has accurately measured how loud an EE Lightning is on full reheat on a high speed taxi run.

Has this been measured at Brunty does anyone know? I know from experience its bloody loud and can kill HD camcorders at 30 paces!!

Just curious really.....

Brunty has sound monitors around the edge of the track but they would only give a level from some distance away. Are you thinking of up close?

Yes, was wondering if ever there have been any measurements on the public fence line. Even so any data from the track sound monitors may be a little useful.

I'll ask for you, reckon it'll easily break 200db though.

When I was at Binbrook the RAF medics with the kit wanted to test the db levels on the reheat pan, so we did our max chat runs as per normal and only when we had shut down did they come over we asked them where they had been and were told the noise levels were far to dangerous to come any closer than 200-250yds
