RRPG dig - RAF airbase dump

Postby Steve T » Wed May 01, 2013 3:32 pm

Hi all

Members of my group, (WW2 Relic Retrieval & Preservation Group (RRPG)), have recently been digging an old RAF airbase dump, the same site we visited back in March. We made some more amazing discoveries, most of which can be seen in the below video.

Relics recovered of note......

Mosquito tail navigation light
Lancaster Merlin engine exhaust stub
Scores of bomb fuzes (not live obviously)
Bomb rack mounting plates

....and much more !

Hope you enjoy the video.

Cheers

Steve T

:ymapplause: :ymapplause: Absolutely fascinating!!
It's a shame about the illegal digs though :( I hope they didn't find anything (important).

What are you planning on doing with the finds? just being nosey ;) :D

I think you need a sieve and bucket for the spoil so you don't loose anything again :)) :))

Thanks guys. We may have tracked the illegal diggers down as they stupidly put items for sale on ebay, with the name of the airbase in the title !

All finds are cleaned, preserved and displayed in our own personal museums. We also display a large selection of relics at military shows such as War&Peace and The Victory Show.
