English Electric Lightning 1:48

Postby LightningMk6 » Thu Jan 03, 2013 11:45 am

Last year at this time, I received an Airfix 1:48 English Electric Lightning model as a present. Had not made any plastic models since my youth, so had to buy all the gear, paints, glue etc. The model took me a couple of months to complete as I took my time getting things right and learning over again how to do what looked like a hard task.

Was surprised at this kit and how well it was made, and impressed with the new Revell liquid cement and it's needle applicator, far cry from the old squeeze tubes, where the cement went everywhere other than the right place. I might just do another Lightning of this scale, noting that the 1:72 kits would be too much of a challenge these days.

Very nice, are you taking orders? ;)

very nice, I hope mine looks as good when I get around to it, I am doing my 18 sqn anniversary 1/48 Chinook at the moment and then a hunter, then the lightning.

I concur reference scale as I have no intention of going to anything smaller than 1/48 in future as the two Tornados at 1/72 were a nightmare and I thought I would be clever and by some Eduard bits to enhance them, I dropped some bits and still have not found so given up now.
