Always best to check the item you are going to a museum to see has in fact been unpacked and assembled ! Today at Hendon the Defiant was still in the Christmas mood. Still it was a good day out nonetheless

There is ONLY one, I presume it's been away for restoration.

The Defiant was the first aircraft used to test ejection seats if I remember correctly.

Hi all
Defiant N1671 is the only complete airframe in the world. There are bits of other airframes around and I know Cosford has some parts in storage.
It is a shame that this aircraft has such a poor reputation and some sources say that the aircraft was a failure. This far from the truth and can not wait to see her back in one peice.

How about getting her flying again and into the BBMF where she belongs

There is a replica within the Boulton Paul Association collection which was built over several years about 10 years ago. There are pictures on the BPA website.

What will happen to it now that BPA have lost their home is anyone's guess.

Well last I heard from the guys at BPA is that the RAF Museum at Cosford may come to the rescue. I don't think anything has been sorted for sure though. I hope that this collection of Boulton Paul artefacts can be saved for the future.
