On the way to Boston we decided to see the Lancaster off from Coningsby, but were treated to :-

Chinook
2 x 3 ship typhoon formations
Lancaster
and several single Typhoon.

So ten minutes turned into half an hour :))
We weren't AT Coningsby, we were a couple of miles away as like I say, we weren't actually meant to be there =)) =))

Hmmm, don't know then.

I don't think it was the Vulcan as I haven't seen them give any updates on Twitter and it sounded like it was above the clouds which I may be wrong but does that rule out the Vulcan?

Only other thing I can think of is a E3D or something.

Crew in for 558 was supposed to be 13,30 takes about 45mins so I would guess take off was about 10 mins ago.

She can fly above cloud as long as she doesn't fly through it - but looking at the sky here it's pretty much total cover.

Whatever it was flew over my house to West ofHigh Street, above cloud, sure sounded like a the V bird to me.
558 has a limited IMC authority, I believe she can penetrate cloud when necessary, but not as the everyday norm. ;)
