Postby Ray C » Thu Aug 09, 2012 4:50 pm

Firstly i want some complements for posting my first picture on the forum from photobucket ......... :ymapplause:

On a regular drive from Queensferry to Saltney i pass the Hawker-Beechcratft facillity next to Airbus.
Yesterday i pulled over took a shot and decided to send you all this picture, they look to be a brace of old MIGs,

Questions, why are they there ? what year/airframe no are they ? you will note the security on the site is crap as they have graffiti on them

;) ;)

Well done on your first picture! :ymapplause:

I seem to remember they had the GRAFFITI on when they arrived, off to do a little searching! ;)

Looking on Google Maps it appears the only wing tip remaining is the one in your picture ~ the stbd wing of the foreground aircraft and both wings of the other airframe appear to have been cropped.

Edited to add ~ It seems they belong to Hawarden Air Services, who also own the Ruskies on loan to NAM.

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

I agree with XP , look a lot like Sukhoi SU-17's or SU-22's [the aileron being in the way to see if it has swing wings] .

They seem to be listed as 17s but the furthest one has the outboard elements of both wings missing, I'm sure they are SU22s the nearest, RED 54 is listed as 69004! :-o

There are also some Mig 23s in the hangars that haven't been seen outside for a while! ;)
