Any chance they can fly via south Manchester ? I'm taking my dog for a long walk in the morning to get my legs working again after all that sitting in the car today? :(

RayC: Only MUFC supporters go there! We couldn't possibly agree to a class act like the Vulcan going"over dare like", she would have to go via a proper Merseyside destination and fly over Anfield!! :ymdevil: :)) One can dream! :D

Anfield? She is still able to carry a full payload in her bomb bay then? :))

Hope all goes well today and she gets to where she needs to be. Good luck to all involved :ymapplause:

Whats the weather like in Scuuny Jigs? - we have thick fog :(

Edit: According to the BBC forecast there could be a window for 558 late morning - it just depends if the rain they have shown moves slightly more North as RIAT was right on the edge of it. They have shown lots more rain for RIAT area over night tho'.

Crewing In

MW POD BM.

The above appeared on the Trust home page about 4 minutes ago - then was replaced with a msg saying sorry for the lack of tweets :-S I would have thought it better to leave the flight info personally.

Plan today is take-off shortly, display authorisation at Farnborough, then arrival at RIAT just after 12.

Yesterday Martin said to Doncaster tower the pan was a SE track over Gainsborough then S to East Midlands, so wonder if the same will apply for today.

She passed low over Northampton late this morning! My first ever view of a Vulcan, in flight or otherwise. What a fantastic sight! One of the most graceful things I have ever seen as she glided from horizon to horizon, gently purring along with four trails of black smoke in her wake, tipping her wings first one way and then the other, gleaming beautifully in the late morning sunshine. Amazing, fantastic, brilliant.

Long may she remain one of the rarest and most important and beautiful operational aircraft in the World... :ymapplause:

I'm pleased you saw her then - she's a bit like a drug habit you can't kick - once you've succumbed your addicted!

Looking forward to seeing video of her display at RIAT. It will be the only time I will see her 2012 display. Saw her on TV, so at least I have seen her flying for the first time this year (and maybe the only time).

Would you consider that to be in Greater Mancunia or in my home county of Cheshire? ;)

In 2008 the left - in the VDF days I either, IIRC I think he preferred the right due to being left handed he just found it a more natural position although was perfectly happy with either side.

Just picking this up again... found this on youtube of riat in 2011.

theres a couple of snippits from inside 558's cockpit, bing flown from the righthand seat if you watch closely.
