Dee, I went down the lane to watch her return as well.

Lots of assumptions here....and how long is a piece of string?

MW & BR are current now they flown, and it is reported that one display was carried out at CF and one at Elvngton, so if MW did both he has 2 under his belt already so it could be that Martin will only need to do 1 more and that could be Friday on the way to RIAT - It all depends on who is scheduled to display at RIAT, it could be Kev [and Martin & Bill simply took the opportunity whilst they were airborne] it also assumes the rules haven't changed since DT was flying her.

EDIT: Just had a thought there is of course Farnborough to cover too....so perhaps an extra sortie or two may be on the cards, it all depends as they haven't flown her for months and who is available.

Isnt there rules over which seat you have to be sat in for diplaying? and also doing practice displaying?

There was - not sure if they still apply. If a PDA was given for the left seat they had to display from the left seat and visa versa.

Bill Ramsey will be flying the Vulcan at Fairford however I think he will be co pilot, not sure who else will be on board. I really hope to get up and see it take off on Friday, am at Fairford this Thursday and have a meeting tomorrow.

In 2008 the left - in the VDF days I either, IIRC I think he preferred the right due to being left handed he just found it a more natural position although was perfectly happy with either side.

Hi,

ISTR you previously saying that a DA applied based on the seat. Does that mean during the VDF days he had to hold two DAs - one for each seat? Also (although I'm sure I've seen you reply to this question before!), does a DA last for a year from the date of issue, or is it per season? So some of the current pilots may still have a DA valid from last year?

Cheers,

Tim

*Searches memory banks* - zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I really don't like making statements unless I know for certain I am correct so the following is with caution.......

I'm sure it didn't apply in the RAF - and it wouldn't surprise me if it has now changed for 558s crew. The CAA were very cautious in the early days, but I can't say with any clarity for certain and we haven't been involved now to any depth since 2008.

I believe the DA lasts for 13mths [I assume time given for renewal] from issue and MW first gained his in the September so assuming it has always been renewed when it was due to run out he has another few months yet.

Weather looks ok[ish] for Lincoln tomorrow - sunshine and showers, and normally we get away pretty lightly here with sort of forecast. Wonder if Donny does?

Drizzle up to midday, light rain from then onwards for Finningley (if you can trust the weatherman). Forecast is better than it was for yesterday.

If only we had aN IA member near Wittering with a camera B-)
Too bad he's at RIAT already =))

What chance '558 is doing the practice then routing into RIAT as the weather for the next few days at best looks miserable for the area. At least if she makes it there today they have an a/c on the ground and can use it to make some money. Ain't no good in Donny waiting for a weather window.
