Diamond Jubilee Plans, I'm confused

Postby Jogger321 » Sat May 26, 2012 8:34 am

From VTS site

"As part of our celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, we plan for XH558 to carry out a celebratory flight from Robin Hood on Sunday June 3rd during the Diamond Jubilee Weekend. "

I'm confused here as having had a look at the Diamond Jubilee diary the date of the flypast I'd like to see 558 involved in is

"5.40pm Balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace"
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will make a balcony appearance at Buckingham Palace and watch the RAF Fly past at 5.55pm. on Tuesday 5th June

I don't think 558 will be allowed to fly over London, she never has been since leaving the RAF!

There are two things happening next weekend - The first is the flotilla on Sunday along the Thames and I see some are hoping this is what they are referring to.

On Tuesday 5th there is a Military Jubilee fly past - there's no way I can see 558 being a part of that - and why should she it's a military 'thing'.

I could see with all the correct permissions in place 558 doing a before or after flypast on her own - but I think the chances of getting permission is slim at best.

Dan4th - HRH may make it known what she would like - but she would not push to break any rules.
