Falklands Memorial Dedication Flypast

Postby Sooty655 » Fri Apr 13, 2012 5:53 pm

XH558 will take part in the flypast on May 20th at the Memorial dedication ceremony. The announcement is here.

Despite the fact they are behind with the fundraising, and the Trustees don't meet until later this month.

I'm delighted 558 will be there, but come on, guys. Who is trying to kid who? :-\ :-\

XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

:ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

The crew ought be Martin, Barry and Bill Perrins then!!

I know this was on the wish list and I'm pleased to see she will, all things being equal, take part. Very different circumstances to joining a Military flypast.

great info, thanks :)

cosford and alrewas are about the same distance for me, which one would be best to hear her howling?
will she stay quiet(ish!) at alrewas as a mark of respect?

I don't know but think it would be a fair bet.

reading this I would go to Cosford and see the Lancaster too...assuming the main reason for the visit is for the a/c

The guy presiding over the service just said he may have to talk for 20 minutes until the fly-past arrives, running late ?

No they are scheduled for 12.45 - not sure why they weren't scheduled for the end of the service tho'.

The Beeb are very left of centre and don't do military well, as shown yesterday in the appalling commentary of the fly past. It never ceases to amaze me just how out of the comfort zone their commentators appear to be.

Quite agree, they were ok back in the days when Raymond Baxter used to present the Farnborough show back in the old days but now as you said they are hopeless !
