Where were these photos taken -please?

Where were these photos taken -please?

Postby MOD » Fri May 04, 2012 7:50 pm

I am still cleaning and scanning my slides and I came across these two.

I thought that Concorde was landing at RAF Finningley, from where she often flew charter flights, but apparently the Finningley people say it's not there.

The EAP shots are a complete mystery as well. BTW this EAP is now at Cosford in the Sir Michael Beetham workshop.

Any suggestions gratefully received. BTW both aircraft were shot in the 80's.... I think :(

Ian

I think the EAP is on an American base by the yellow airfield furniture!

OK thanks XPL but I don't think it was Fairford or Mildenhall and it doesn't look to me like Lakenheath or Alconbury . So it might be Upper Heyford at the land-fill site end?

As for Concorde I was certain it was Finningley. :(

DT doesn't recognise it as Finningley, was it taken over the airfield or in the vicinity of?

Pam I think this may be Fairford. I caught this on short finals and as far as I can remember the only places that I ever saw Concorde landing were either Finningley or Fairford.

It really is frightening to look at so many slides of these iconic aircraft and to have absolutely no recollection of when or where you took their photos. :(

Thanks for trying. ;)

Ian

EDIT: XPL - Do I know you???

The Concorde shot is from Fairford [thats Totterdown Hill in the background] but I think its taking off or a low overshoot rather than landing [the 6 sign being the clue , 6000 feet of runway behind her] ;)

Not sure on the EAP shots though :(
