First Flight 2012

Postby Jigsaw » Thu Apr 26, 2012 1:07 pm

From Faceboook:

"Crew and aircraft are ready to take-off for today’s test flight from her home at Doncaster Robin Hood Airport, waiting for a gap in the weather. Met Office forecast suggests she could be up around 16:00 but they will go earlier if possible".

Have your bearings settled down now then?

She didn't get that far Minty - soon after I said I saw her over Coningsby and said she may come your way as it was sunny she turned around and headed back and spent most of the time around Cranwell.

She getting airborne a second time and doing circuits at Finningley so I assume that means the test flight was OK.

They were using the block between Coningsby and Wittering. That's what they said on take off anyway.

I'd love to show you the video I took but thanks to my camera batteries it doesn't exist ~x(
I really thought it would save the footage before it closed down :(( :((

The BBC news report says it was the actual memorial flight today, but I thought it was only a test flight?

The reporter seemed to be under the impression that it was 558 that carried out the BLACK BUCK raid and that it was the same crew, although Martin is the only veteran of that wonderful piece of force projection! :-o

Reporters reporting on something they know little about. The actual Falklands flypast on the 20th May is to be flown by MW BM and Bill Perrins all BB crew but not all BB1.

Yes indeed, I do look forward to the possibility that they may tell the story correctly! ;)
