It's Green All-Round, Mart :D

Thanks, Dave.....

I like to think Pete's doing some of
the flying in the vid I posted :)

And what SHOULD the RAF name it, Gaz?

I agree the current monniker isn't
all that good, but...........

I haven't heard any nicknames yet :D

Going with our "Weather" theme:

"Drizzle"

"Fog"

"Cyclone" (But that could have been used)

"Clammy"

"Humid"

and my personal favourite

F-35 "Short Sharp Shower"
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!

Bearing in mind it has not received the sort of press that would mark it out as the finest product, I wonder if we should just move to clarify our version from the others. Where it may be called Lightning in the USA, we could call it "Sheet Lightning" in the UK. Or Sheet for short.

Forked Lightning might be even better. :))

Don't forget the UK's aircraft industry
has been closely involved since the
earliest phases of development :ymapplause:

My whole position is I think once the
F-35 goes operational over here and
in your country, too, that we will all
be delighted with it!

Hi D4th,

I appreciate some folk think so mate and they are no doubt an awesome machine, but not sure why we needed the jump jet version when we could easily have made our own supersonic Harrier if anyone could think why one is needed when ground attack is usually subsonic. Basically, I question the need for such a machine at such a cost for what we do in the world. Not many Mach 2 aircraft in the Taliban world or potential areas of conflict for our air forces and we have adequate aircraft to deal with them, or did have until our dumb government sold all the Leaping Heaps to you guys for 1 cent on the Dollar. :-o

Basically I feel we are spending too much on hardware designed for an enemy who has vanished when The Wall came down and should rationalise our resources to what we really need to deal with the real world problems of today.

Ahhh the old Reds under the bed McCarthy ploy. I suspect China will be following Russia before long and probably breaking up into smaller regions controlled by very very rich ex-commissars. They have had a dose of Capitalism and good old fashioned greed now and theres no stopping that. Can't see theres anything in it for China in going for the old Communist mantra of world domination by force. All the industrialists, including the Yanks, are falling over themselves in the indecent rush to move all our production to China to take advantage of the cheap labour and hugh profits and in the process handing them a much more powerful weapon than the F35 JSF- Financial Power! The way things are going and given the delays in delivery, I'd take odds on the Chinese building the F35 for us! =)) =))
