Well, yeah, but they're only worth what somebody is willing to pay.
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!

This keeps cropping up but it is documented that once they had decided they would be grounded it would cost over £1m per a/c to dispose of them due the composite material they are made of, as we had something like 74 getting £112m was a bargain!

It also states that £500m upgrade goes back 10 year so why not lets go the whole hog and include the cost of manufacture...

Typical of the press.... ~x(

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

The DEAL is DONE, can we let this sorry episode go quietly in to history now, PLEASE!

Not so long as the Daily Heil thinks there is mileage in it, methinks. 8-|
Sooty

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

Oh I quite agree, I was hoping to influence the membership of I.A. ;)

I don't for think for a minute that my influence would reach much further! [-x

Not bloomin likely! Nice juicy bit of scandal and corruption to be investigated, bring it on lets see the bent so and so behind this cock up squirm in the spotlight of public indignation. X(

Why dispose of them at all, surely it was possible to lay them up in war stock in case they are needed, the carriers too, especially in the current uncertain climate. If they were good enough for the Yanks I can't see why we should not have kept them available for emergency. Now we have no means at all of projecting influence very much beyond the Isle of Wight and won't have any for at least ten years at best. :-o ~x(

Bet our American allies are having a right celebration over such an awesome deal, they did well. The whole business stinks of undue haste and total incompetance. Never mind, after last weeks kicking of the pensioners, they will make the deficit up by taxing us for attending the doctor next and free operations will be on the way out. :(
