From today's newsletter;

Our Board of Trustees met earlier this week to review the Trust's finances, and in particular, the progress with our 2012 Appeal. On the basis of what had been achieved in February and the clear confirmation of the continuing significant level of support for returning XH558 for the 2012 flying season, the Board gave the go-ahead to our plans for completing the Winter Service and raising the funds so to do. Given the current economy and the uncertainties in today's world, the Board rightly wants to review progress on a monthly basis.

The Board concluded:

"The Trustees would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Trust's ability to return XH558 to the air for her important Diamond Jubilee season. We hope very much that this support will continue to allow the completion of the Winter Service.

We must still raise £200,000 to achieve this goal, but are confident on past performance that this can be achieved."

In particular, the Board agreed that the Trust's budget forecasts now allow some phasing of appeal targets over the next three months, reflecting both actual cash requirements, and the reality of the current fund-raising climate. The new monthly Appeal targets, taking into account the greater confidence and the resulting reduction in contingency funds needed, are now:
£75,000 in March
£75,000 in April
£50,000 in May

This will enable us to complete the Winter Service and prepare the aircraft for test flight in late April, aircrew currency and training flights, all leading up to the important flight in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Falklands conflict.
Our Home Page will now show the monthly target and total raised to date updated every weekday evening.

Let's all aim to see XH558 back where she belongs in 2102

Spot the typo. It will be nice if it isn't a typo.

So the bottom line is £200,000 needed by the end of May?? That will cover just the Falklands 'bash'? (Which I personally think is inappropriate in the present political climate, despite my brother and brother-in-law being there in '82).

But then what? Start all over again for the Jubilee/RIAT etc??

Mike Collett, who is desperately trying to keep 20 aircraft in flying condition, must be ~x( ~x( ~x(

I think they're hoping that the publicity from the Falklands parade will generate an influx of new members and sponsorship offers.

I hope it works, but, at the end of the day, people are still skint!

Its strange how the appeal went from, " we need £300,000 by the end of March" to "now we have £100,00 we now need the rest by the end of May" :-o

why not just ask for the £300,000 by the end of May in the first place.............. ~x(
