Just saw this on BBC.

"Leading industry magazine Jane's Defence Weekly said propellor-driven ...planes ....might be used"

The Red Blades?
I'd rather be skiing

Oh god - another defence expert!

So, that assumes their Hawk T1s won't be replaced by T2s... Interesting.

On balance, I reckon red painted A400M's... =))

Think the biggest problem in 2018 will be finding an aircraft we have 9+ of!!

In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Well, at the risk of being pelted with
assorted baked items, the F-35 has a

Of course, we're talking about down the
road a few years........... :D :D :D :D

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

why dont HMG and MOD give a small contract for 12 new Mk1`s so that the guys at Brough have something to keep them going for the next few months and see if things pick up......... ;)

maybe an E- petition should be raised ........... \:D/

The production line is now tooled for T2's - the change would cost a fortune and take an awfully long time, as well as disrupting T2 production.

Given that the RAF has plenty of T1's / T1A's in storage (at Shawbury, so I'm led to believe), carrying out the necessary Mods to make them Red Arrows airframes would be a much quicker, simpler and cheaper task I would have thought?

Gully you hit the NAIL on the HEAD! :ymapplause:

Plumbing required for the DYE/EXHAUST interface and adapted Aden Gun Pod and integral Dye Tanks, not much more to do and just make sure the airframe is to Mod 2010 State! ;)

But you can guarantee if it is that easy, someone at MOD will come up with a better* way. :-?

(*In this context, "better" means much more expensive and totally impractical)

All Hawk production is being outsourced to Hindustan Aviation in India..

For the latest news on BAe's idiocy read this from the Grauniad today.

How the hell this bunch of donkeys in Westminster are going to dig us out of the crap they put us in by out sourcing our aviation engineering to overseas beats me! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! X( And how the devil we are to support our Social Security system by sacking more people than we employ does my head in too!!! Probably explains why they are screwing us down on every thing except paying more tax.

No matter how many pats on the back they give themselves for British inventiveness and engineering design achievements, its simply no use to us as a country if we keep exporting all the jobs to the Third World and selling all the technology to the Yanks in exchange for their crap obsolete aircraft( e.g that Rivet thingey jumps to mind ~x( ). The only ones to gain are the big salary earners selling us out by moving everything overseas to improve their short term profits at our expense. If we don't start re-building our engineering and other manufacturing we are screwed. :(

What about the aircraft carrier fiasco, not available operationally until 2030, Blimey, any project that is to take nearly 20 YEARS to replace a perfectly acceptable if ageing system such as the Harrier carriers is not worth the money and will be obsolete by the time its in service. [-x Scrap the bloody project along with its US designed jump jet that won't work and make some more Harriers this time make 'em supersonic like they would have been back in the sixties if we had made the 1154 version. You don't see the Yanks jumping to scrap their Harriers do you? Thats because they recognise its value enough to buy all ours for a knock down price that will see them through to at least 2050.

Politicians are Utter b******s! X(
Ministry of Defence to quote an old saying "Lions led by Donkeys!! :o)
(No offence to Yanks D4th)

Rant over, gosh I feel better now time for a calming glass of red! :D
