The SAAB J-29 "Tunnan":::::::::::::::::

Postby Dan4th » Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:45 pm

From the 50s, evidently a better aircraft
than it looks to be, with "Tunnan" meaning
Barrel.....

They made hundreds of them, but this is the
first time I've seen one...

We used to have one on the display circuit over here!

Great little jet, always made me think of the bumble bee theory that they can't actually fly! :-o

I seem to remember them at the Mildenhall air fetés :ymapplause:

HA! HA! HA!

Not unlike the EE Lightning:::::::::

Ungainly on the ground, beautiful and
stinking fast in the air!

You have to admire the Swedes for making
their own aircraft, eh?

Brit engine, but did they build it under license
or buy it from you guys?

Midland Air Museum at Coventry has the UK's only example. There is one airworthy example left, flying in Sweden.

Good article on the aircraft in a recent Jets Monthly mag.
