American Air Day @ Duxford 19th August

Postby Cluny » Sat Aug 13, 2011 3:18 pm

On behalf of Minty ;)

This family-friendly day showcases the work of the United States Air Force in Europe and, in particular, the Third Air Force, resident in the United Kingdom. Comprising a rich mix of flying and ground-based displays, American Air Day gives visitors the opportunity to engage with the Third Air Force and learn more about its varied and diverse roles.

The Aircraft that I know are flying are :
    Sally b
    Catalina
    F-86A Sabre
    P-51D Mustang
Plus whatever turns up from RAF Mildenhall and Lakenheath ;)
Normal entry fee [£16.50 for adults] as its not an airshow as such .

Yeah, I had thought of nipping across, more likely to go across to Lakenheath earlier in the week for the A10s before they go home!

Have they gone already? Or could they put in an appearance at Duxford :-?

I believe they are heading to Germany on either the 18th or 19th, you may get a flyby at 1500 feet though!

If I attend, I will get to Cambridge Rail Station at 09:08 and wait for the first bus to Duxford Air Museum.
The last bus departs Duxford Air Museum at 17:22 and I get my train at 19:00.
I catch my train at 07:00 (first departure) and get back at 20:54 (last train)
I may not see the first aircraft arrive :(, but may see it leave ;).
