RAF on the ball

Postby Lucas1860 » Fri Jul 08, 2011 4:09 pm

A few snippits I'm hearing.

Quote "AP-BHD was due to stop at Innsbruck for fuel but by-passed it. On entering UK airspace was asked why it had failed to stop at Innsbruck and replied they had enough fuel. Must have set alarm bells ringing as it was then told it would be intercepted by military aircraft and escorted to DSA."

BBC-Business jet intercepted by RAF Typhoons and escorted to land at Robin Hood Airport, Doncaster - met by armed police, Pilot of Pakistan registered jet didn't respond to Air Traffic communications en route from Turkey. Turned out to be technical fault.

This was Wednesdays QRA scramble I believe.
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Good to see the system still appears to work. I just wonder why the Typhoons escorted it to a busy civvy airport, if it was seen as a potential threat, and not to Coningsby where the airbase is surely much more secure.

ibw BTW where was the quote from Jim?
