Cosford Airshow 12 June 2011

Postby Hydealfred » Wed Jun 15, 2011 10:16 am

A two and a half hour journey led me to Cosford Boatshow, sorry Airshow, it was so wet I thought I was at the former. This had to be the wettest airshow I have been to since Binbrook in 1987, there was no let up all day. Still there is always a bonus. This was a chance to look around all those retired Jags that live here. There was a little bit of flying so not all was lost. The poor light and driving rain hampered photography but I gave it a go. At least it showed the Nikons and lenses were weather proof.

There is a large store of Jags tucked away on the field

I spotted this Tornado F.2 tailfin from ZD937. This looked familiar and then I realised why. I had last seen
it attached to the rest of the aircraft at Farnborough Airshow in 1988

Thanks for looking.

They look pretty good to me considering the weather. :ymapplause:

Anyone know why there were only 8 Reds?
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.

Red 4 went tech as did the 'pool plane'.
So they displayed 8 with 9 pilots!!

Red 4 encountered problems at SHAWBURY!
