Latest email which arrived whilst I was at work .
News last night from Kemble copied below. The guys are out at the airfield and CAA are expected shortly but sticking point is that first flight will be made by CAA chief pilot and his availability is unknown. I've just spoken to Sandy and he says its a tough choice, if you go to Kemble you might see the aircraft fly, or you might just top up your sun tan. I can't get out there today as I have unbreakable appointments, so on my part I hope it doesn't fly today, and I hope that everybody gets at least 24 hours notice of such of the event.

Hello All

Information this morning, that Flight could not happen till next week!!!

By the time I got home from Kemble, it had changed to: if pilot is available, it could take place tomorrow 14th June..

As of this time I've had no further information.

John W and I are at Kemble for CAA audit tomorrow.

So now you know as much as me.!!

That about sums it up :YMSIGH:

Edit
Flew today at 16:00 and apparently suffered engine and undercarrage problems according to UKAR :(

I don't know if the CAA's Chief Test Pilot will be available again before Saturday but I understand WA591 will be on static display

"Hi everyone

I was unable to be at Kemble and hence missed the first flight of WA591
under the control of CAA test pilot Dan Griffith. There was some drama
with an undercarriage indicator necessitating a mayday but recycling the
undercarriage cured the fault and the aircraft landed safely following a
forty minute flight, The pilot reported that it flew very smoothly.

It will be necessary to do some ground checks to verify and identify the
fault before a further test flight. I've seen some short footage of the
flight and will post links to them as soon as I can get around to it."

Paul Mulchay is the CAA Chief TP who gets his hands on 558 from time to time.
In memory of a very dear friend - Mike Pearson

Very fond memories of Robbie Gilvary - DTs 1st Vulcan Captain who taught DT all he knew.
