Duxford Spring Show 2011

Anyone else attend? I was there working on the VTTS Club Stand.

Never seen Duxford so quiet on an air show day - feedback from Duxford's show administrator was that most of the traders had commented on the low footfall.

As for the show itself, it wan't very inspiring. Highlights for me were Coventry's Meteor NF11 and RNHF's (loaned) Sea Fury making it's show debut.

Did I mention how windy it was?!

I assume they lost a good % of the display due to the winds?

I haven't read much about this event at all - one only post on one the fora. Did it clash with anything else? Big difference to the Autumn show?? last year that sold out and they had to close the gates.

I reckon a good 85% of the displays were still on. They lost the BBMF due to crosswinds at Coningsby, the powered hanglider wasn't able to get airborne and we lost the 'light' types (a Tiger Moth and the RNHF Swordfish). However, all the WW2 fighters on the ground at Duxford flew from the grass strip - wind was straight down the runway.

Not aware of a clash. Maybe people heard the rain that blew through between 5am and 6am and decided to give it a miss thinking that not much would get airborne.
