This gave me a surprise when I drove past on the A1 on Friday, looked left expecting to see the GR3 and saw this! Sad to see the GR3 go though because it was always a bit of landmark whenever I travelled north.

Now you have an updated version and you wont need to take your eyes off the road as you already know what is there. :D

The GR3 is expected to head towards a museum, much like the T4 and T8N that were outside 20 / 4 Sqn further in to the camp! ;)

Okay XPl - you've said in different posts that she's a GR7 and a GR9! :)) Which is right, please?

I'm going for GR7... ;)

Thanks,

She finished her service career as a GR9!

Thank you!

UK Serials has her listed as a GR7A - did such a designation exist?

Yes, it was a GR7 with uprated engine and avionics, it may be correct, I was lead to belive she had reached GR9 level when damaged, now she is an empty shell! ;)

Nice pics. I agree it would look better with some Squadron insignia though. Why leave it so anonymous?

I presume because there are NO Harrier Sqns at Wittering. ;)

The jet is actually known as CHRISTINE as she was a bit of a bitch when in service, she suffered many mishaps and a loud sigh of relief was heard when she was declared BER after the rocket attack in Afghanistan that caused her to be withdrawn from service! She looked like a sieve when she was airlifted bock in a C17 due to all the shrapnel holes! :-o

BER = Beyond Economical Repair :D
