The Buc-2 is/was a far better aircraft than
anyone could ever have expected.

There! I've SAID it!

Ugly? Yes!

Tough to maintain? You BET!

A landmark aircraft that went far beyond its
original combat mission specs??????????

YUP!

Gotta LUV those BANANAS!!!!!!!!!!

A lot of the performance superlatives occurred
sort of by accident, but you CAN NOT argue with
success, now can you?

I know I'M not going to..........

Best bomber EVER?

I think that might be a bit of a stretch....

Top Five?

Definitely!

(...mostly because it could GET to the TARGET!)

Gentlemen, the other factor you seem to be overlooking was the QUALITY of the AIRCREW and the TRAINING they underwent! ;)

So why can't you import F104 engines? Are they on a NATO banned list or something??

I think you will find they have a lot of nasty components!

Asbestos is one that comes to mind.
