Anyone like to work on a Starfighter?

Postby Gaz » Wed Feb 16, 2011 9:58 pm

Our "New" Starfighter needs a crew. Apparently, when the previous watchman learned that you can't import engines for them, he lost interest and walked away.

It just needs two or three people to re-paint it and restore it to presentable status. The plan is to have her as a gate guard.

Can't imagine it'd be too much work with a roller.

Best picture I could get in the circumstances.

We are DESPERATE for volunteers, if you are interested let me know. If you can only spare a few hours a month, that's fine.

The links to the rest are all there on Youbus Tubus.......

Only aircraft you can talk about in the same breath
as the EE Lightning.......

Not such a bad aeroplane to work on, I don't think.......

Agreed welcome Dan4th!!

If our government hadn't have actively discouraged it, the Lightning could have been the NATO fighter!

Is it not worth contacting the local air cadets Gaz? I know that the Harrier at Bletchley is maintained by the local air cadets here.

Youse Guys:::::::::::::::::::::

Well, my baby toe is in the water.........

We Shall SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

EE Lightning as NATO Aircraft????

Starfighter was conceived to be Cheap to
Build and Easy to Service.

Hmmmmmmm.........

Of course, the Lightning never had Several
Bazillion Dollars/Pounds thrown at it to make
it "Flexible".

I know you like the F-104 too, Your Ladyship.....

And although "they" say it was a death trap, if
there had been thousands of Lightnings built, I
expect they might have gotten a similar reputation.

You know, there are still three of them doing displays?

I think NASA still has one and there are at least two
in private (flyable) ownership!

Can you imagine going out your back door and just
hopping in and (...well) just GOING FOR A SPIN????????????

Me neither, but I guess there are some........

Hope to be back at least a little and then more and more
over the next few weeks.

Thank you all for noticing my humble little post last night.

Danf.

Aw, cut it OUT, Eye-Bee.............

Got any Starfighter Pics???????????

I'm just piddling around and hope to
p'raps try to reinvigorate this "website"
a little bit.

There are a few people who are MIA on
here, and I hope we can maybe lure some
of them back.........

I only have seen just a few Starfighters,
but they are still my favo(u)rite jet fighter
aircraft of all time. YOU people, however,
have managed to get the EE Lightning into
a very close #2 spot on my list!

Can anyone recall ever seeing the two of them
flying in formation at a show?

Gosh Almighty! Now THAT would be SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!

Yours, etc.
