Main thing is that the CREW ARE SAFE! :ymapplause:

TSR-2 simply got the first 3 right. ”

Two pilots are in hospital after ejecting from a Tornado jet as they were coming in to land at RAF Lossiemouth on Thursday evening.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "An incident has occurred involving an aircraft at Lossiemouth. The good news is that the crew ejected safely and are en route to hospital."

The spokesman said it was too early to provide any details of the crew's condition or the circumstances of the incident but it is not thought the pilots were seriously injured.

It is understood the crew encountered a problem on landing the aircraft but the spokesman stressed that the plane had not crashed.

Someone on UKAR is reporting that the aircraft is sitting on it's wheels on the grass at Lossiemouth.

This actually bring back memories (bad ones ) of 6 Phantoms that went down from Leuchars near the end of their time with the loss of crews I remember 3 crews that were never recovered in fact i believe they still have not found those aircraft out there in St Andres bay .4 were termed as crashed on take off I think i even remember the flash out over the sea one evening as 1 was destroyed in the air ,fortunatly the crew baled on that occasion and & were recovered from the water.

It is sitting on the grass just off the runway, on all wheels with no canopy and both seat tubes fully extended. A couple of dinghies and chutes are nearby. Tail serial 089. ZD741

Is the MoD applying 'natural wastage' to the aircraft fleet as well as personnel? With the reducing Tornado numbers I can't see this one being repaired.
