XH558 Display

Postby Minty4371 » Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:45 am

When the aircraft displays at airshows, how far in advance do the pilots learn the display routine, and will this years display be different to last years. Also, how long does it take to learn a new routine, and when will the 2011 airshow list be released.

I would of thought a list would be made public after the winter serving is complete or nearly complete but not before ;)

Happy New Year to all!

The provisional list of shows is still being constructed. This can obviously take time to get agreement and contracts with the various organisers and so may be a while yet before it is finalised and formally released. However, as the aircraft will be ready earlier this year (barring any unexpected work in the Winter Servicing), you may see some early shows being announced.

The actual routines are limited by location and the various limitations placed on the aircraft, but I would expect much the same as 2010.

Participation for the Waddington show doesn't start to come together until late March early April - so you can see that these things are not arranged in general months in advance.

With XL426 in bits it would be difficult.

I believe it's something the crew feel is beneficial as they have so much down time through out the winter rather than a laid down procedure dictated by any authority.

My personal thoughts are they would have asked if would be possible to use 594 at Newark as she's belongs to the Lincs Lancs Ass. who support BBMF. For abandonment training not a lot of point in using just a cockpit.

What I should point out of course is 655 is always available because of the TLC she gets!!!

And all done without benefit of Jaffa Cakes. :p

(Bryan and Avril's proper cakes go down very well, though) :))
