History .
Opened in August 1942 as a satalite airfield for Bicester based 13 OTU Blenheims .
January 1943 brought recently formed [24th December 1943 at Bicester] 307 FTU [Ferry Training Unit] Whitleys and Wellingtons but by the end of March they had converted to Boston IIIs [the first (AL697) arrived on the 20th] .
307 FTU left in October 43 for Melton Mowbray . 13 OTU started to recieve Mosquitos and Mitchells in January 44 and the remaining Blenheims were withdrawn .
In june 45 , 6 x Tempest IIs arrived at Finmere to replace Bicesters Hurricanes in the Fighter affiliation role of 13 OTU .
13 OTU left Finmere at the end of July 45 taking 44 x Mosquitos , 6 x Ansons , 5 x Mitchells and the Tempests to Middleton St George and Finmere closed .
