Which Airshow

Postby Lucas1860 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 12:34 pm

.......If any, are you planning to visit this year.

I have booked a campsite for the Flying Legends weekend, going to the show on the 9th July. Waddo will be on the list. Giving RIAT a miss this year, will be on Holiday. Has anyone got the dates for the Brungtinthorpe Taxi days. Also planning a camping jaunt to Mildenhall in August.

Jim.

Waddington obviously - :D ..... think thats the only one - no more family days at Wittering or Cottesmore with XP :((

Gutted we won't make Wellesbourne as they've put it back a week to the Sunday before Waddington so DT will be too busy, only the second time DT won't have been in the cockpit in 16yrs :(( tho' we were there the year he was poorly..

not inclinded to go to RIAT again - despite what everyone says I think it's pants [only went to see the Raptor]

so must have lots of days at Coningsby :D

May twist DTs arm to go to one of the Duxford events IF I'm lucky

Not dates as such Jim but the CWJ days are normally on the bank hoilday Sunday last week end of May or is it the first w/e???? & the August bank holiday weekend

LPG may do a couple of extra days in between like the night taxi runs but I think 320psi said they weren't doing them any more.

EDIT: I understand the CWJ day is 29th May

East Kirkby about 10 times =))
I usually do the LMA in April (Easter), may bank holiday (American air day), end of May bank holiday, the Air show was brilliant last year so I'm definitly doing that again, august bank holiday, Battle of Britain day and the Fire Works night.

Maybe Duxford Spring and Autum shows, and possibly Legends but not sure yet.

Waddington.

Wickenby wings and wheels.

Possibly Wellesbourne.

And plenty of hours put in at Coningsby =)) =))

RIAT in July.

I'd like to do one of the Shuttleworth evening shows this year. I keep meaning to and never get there.

Brunty in May.

After that anything else is a bonus!
I'm English, and as such I crave disappointment

So then, how far back would you have to go for it to be called a PROPER BIGGIN HILL AIRFAIR?

Yes I remember them, some good some a bit mediocre,I do remember some awful weather at times in the 70s and 80s,some of the good memories, the Canadian f104 foursome,Lightning belting down the runway and then lighting the paper and standing on it's tail ,blimey ! the Vulcan ,obviously,I must admit though it all seemed faster/noisier and lower in them far off days ,double sigh :)

I wasn't at that show,I'm glad to say and also was fortunate enough to miss the Cobra and the Vampire crashes in 91,although I heard the tower trying to call the Vampire pilot on my scanner ,which was pretty horrible !

Just remembered why I wasn't at the 1980 show,I was stuck in with a torn cartilage in my knee ,the same knee that is now causing me some discomfort ,to put it mildly X(

Brunty dates are the 29th of May and the 28th of August.

That'll probably be it for me this year. I'll be in America for Waddington and Kemble. Might catch a freebie to Duxford with XP ;)
NB; Any negative comments I post about the Vulcan are posted SOLELY to wind Gregg up!
