That's an incredible rate of climb in the first video, no sooner had they left the ground and they were above the clouds in a cruise!

One Olympus 301 has twice the power of a complete F1 starting grid.
XM655 has four of them, all serviceable.

I love the C-27 too, very nimble for a big beasty!

Not sure on that Tri-Motor but the left wing does look like it is actually scraping on the floor as you can see a "puff" of something, dirt of smoke or whatever just before he goes almost vertical back into the sky.,... crazy crazy dude!!

Apologies if you have seen this before. I'm not going back through all the threads here.

I am so glad I got to see and photograph a few of these awesome and truly Iconic aircraft.

I remember being shown around the SR71 hangar at Mildenhall and being told to avoid the puddles under the fuel tanks.. JP7 would eventually dissolve concrete!! I hadn't realised that she leaked so much on the ground, when cold, that it had to refuel immediately after takeoff as the tanks would have nearly run dry by then.

I also didn't realise that all the pilots had to be married and somewhat mature in age.

Even today this is an astonishing aircraft.
